Otis Smith Farm
Otis Smith Farm, a seventeen-acre farm with a brook, on Scott Road in Ashton, Rhode Island, twelve miles from the campus, was left to Pembroke College in 1964 by Lura Mae Thomas Smith ’01, widow of Otis Smith. The ten-room white clapboard house was intended by Mrs. Smith to provide a weekend retreat for Pembroke students or faculty members, and was not to be sold. It was later made available for group gatherings of others in the University community.
